Our mission is to provide the best possible service to the health colleges and to improve the use and understanding of educational technology. We accomplish this through evaluation, adoption, implementation and training.


Media Services

The Media Services department sets up Audio/Video conferences, produces instructional video, installs multimedia equipment and several other duties centered around Multimedia projects.

Computer and Resource Labs

The Computer and Resource Labs provide support to the CHM and COM medical students in both the ECHT and Kobiljak Labs here on campus. With the expansion to Grand Rapids and Southeast Michigan, this group will help form consistent computer and resource lab experiences.

Instructional Design and Programing

The Instructional Design and Development group handle various requests for instructional technology implementation. This group helps instructors implement and enhance online and hybrid learning strategies and development of new computer programs used in instruction. This group also provides design strategies for video conferencing.

• Your Computer Responsibilities
  
  Your responsibilities before contacting Media Services about lecture recording playback problems:
  
  1. Make sure you have all recommended system updates installed.
  
  2. Make sure your browser is updated. Mediasite works with Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or later, Firefox 2.0 or later, Safari 2.0.4 or later or Google Chrome 1.0. You will also need *Silverlight 1.0 or later for Firefox, Safari or Chrome (You will be prompted to install this when you attempt to view a presentation). *Variable speed playback is not currently supported in Silverlight.
  
  3. If you are accessing the recording from off campus you will need a Broadband Internet connection with speeds of 256 Kbps or more.
  
  4. Make sure you have Antivirus installed and that it is up to date.
  
  5. Make sure you can play other online video files.
  
  6. If your computer has issues that your are unable to resolve you can contact campus computer support at http://computerrepair.msu.edu
  
  7. If you have followed all these steps and believe your system is functioning properly and still has Mediasite play back problems call us at 517-355-4546 to schedule an appointment.

    ESET NOD32 is offered by the computer store for $30 and is “must have” software for students and faculty. NOD32 is the recommended Antivirus software.
